My Travel Journal

"There isn't much I haven't shared with you along the road and through it all there'd always be tomorrow's episode" - Elton John

I started traveling around the world since early 80s when I had the opportunity to combine business trips with vacations. Then later when my rezeki is in abundance, there were numerous other trips along the way for vacations, most of the time with hubby and the kids when the timing is right. I have also started to compile the journal and photo-pages covering almost more than 45 years of world wide travel. Some destinations I visited just once, others many times. Many of those places are the obvious famous places people would like to visit but some, the casual traveler doesn't even think to try. I have placed links to my travel at the side bar of my personal page, My Life Reflections, and will be updating them from time to time.

My wish is to continue my travel and complete circumnavigate the globe, insyaAllah…

Thailand Borders 11: Chiang Khong

The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.” – Vidal Sassoon

(Chiang Khong Hill Resort)

Day 11: Wednesday, 20 Nov 2024
Route: Uttaradit to Chiang Khong
Distance: 425 km (6:27)
Hotel: Chiang Khong Hill Resort

Complimentary breakfast of toast with butter and jam and coffee.

Checked out by 8.00 am. Visited Uttaradit Ad-Da-Ei Mosque not far from the hotel. Met two muslim brothers from Pattani having breakfast at the mosque.

This morning we drove north heading towards Chiang Kong, another Thailand/Laos border crossing. Passed through Phrae and stopped at Restaurant Abang Air Muslim Food. The last time we came here in 2022, the restaurant was closed because of PKP.

Continued our journey and stopped in Phayao at Kanita Halal Food for nasi kuning daging and Noodle beefballs for lunch. We drove to Masjid Jamiul Islam for solat jamak. Next to the mosque is a muslim restaurant. The owner is from Yala and speaks fluent Malay. We packed fried rice and omellete for tonight's dinner. From previous experience, there is no halal eateries in Chiang Khong.

On the way to Chiang Khong, by chance we saw signage of a mosque by the route 1020 in Thoeng. We made a brief stop at Masjid Al-Rahmaniah and took some pictures of the mosque.

Arrived in Chiang Khong around 4.30 pm and drove to Chiang Khong Border Crossing at the Thai/Laos Friendship Bridge. We have been through this crossing several times in the past.

Checked in Chiang Khong Hill resort, at RM82/night. It is a beautiful resort located on a hill with scenic panoramic view of the mountains, the busy water transports of Mekong river and Laos across the other side of the riverbank.
