My Travel Journal

"There isn't much I haven't shared with you along the road and through it all there'd always be tomorrow's episode" - Elton John

I started traveling around the world since early 80s when I had the opportunity to combine business trips with vacations. Then later when my rezeki is in abundance, there were numerous other trips along the way for vacations, most of the time with hubby and the kids when the timing is right. I have also started to compile the journal and photo-pages covering almost more than 25 years of world wide travel. Some destinations I visited just once, others many times. Many of those places are the obvious famous places people would like to visit but some, the casual traveler doesn't even think to try. I have placed links to my travel at the side bar of my personal page, My Life Reflections, and will be updating them from time to time.

My wish is to continue my travel and complete circumnavigate the globe, insyaAllah…

Los Angeles, USA 1989 - City of the Stars...

"To get full value of joy, you must have someone to evide it with..." - Mark Twain

Los Angeles
(27 May - 5 June, 1989)

This trip to LA was made after my 2-week Reserve Management Seminar in New York organised by J.P. Morgan.

(Universal Studios)

No trip to Los Angeles is complete without a visit to Hollywood where you'll most likely be discovered by some agent to star in the next big flick. Actually, a trip to Hollywood, which is primarily Hollywood Blvd as far as attractions goes, is pretty disappointing in that the city is dirty and run down with very little to see. If you take a "Tour of the Stars" homes, mostly what you'll see are overgrown bushes obscuring any view of the houses. The only thing worth seeing is Mann's Chinese Theater where you can take pictures of celebrities' hand imprints. If there's a good movie showing, you might want to pay to go inside the theater as it is quite ornate.

When you visit Los Angeles, you’ll discover that much of the vibrant life here seems to thrive somewhere between reality and dream. This alluring place is where trends are born.Greater Los Angeles (L.A.) embodies everything that makes the United States a great place to visit: beautiful scenery, world-famous attractions and a wonderful selection of activities. Among others, be sure to visit Disneyland in Anaheim, Mann's Chinese Theater in Hollywood , Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and the many picturesque coastal communities including Long Beach, Santa Monica and Newport Beach.

In your arms a simple peace,
Haunts my mind of separation.
Beyond my body’s own existence
Did I learn my destination?
With my promise always breaking
Soon may come the day.
When honest words are spoken,
Please send me on my way.

New York, USA 1989 - The City that never sleeps...

"Yesterday is but today's memory, tomorrow is today's dream..." - Khalil Gibran

New York
(12 - 20 May 1989)

I was in New York for the 'Reserve Management Seminar' organised by J.P. Morgan. For this trip, hubby accompanied me from the start.
New York is one of the world’s great metropolises, offering visitors everything from the ethnic flavours of Chinatown and Little Italy, to the galleries of SoHo, the cafes of Greenwich Village, the glitz of the Theater District, the shopping on Fifth Avenue and the affluence of Park Lane and the Upper West Side. New York City is made up of five boroughs and is laid out on a grid of avenues and streets.

(The twin towers in the background)

Most tourist sights are found on Manhattan Island, the city’s entertainment and business centre. The remaining four boroughs are primarily residential – the Bronx to the north, Queens to the east, Brooklyn to the southeast and Staten Island to the southwest. Each has wealthy and salubrious districts alongside working-class neighbourhoods – demonstrating New York’s varied social mix.

(Statue of Liberty)

The total area of all five boroughs is 780 sq km (301 sq miles). New York’s location at the mouth of the Hudson River on the Atlantic Ocean is reflected in the city’s importance as a port, and as the point of disembarkation for millions of immigrants to the USA. Vibrating with the energy of over seven million inhabitants, New York is a constantly evolving, growing and changing organism. The sheer volume of things to do – theatre, ballet, opera, museums – is astonishing.
