About Me

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
I am married to my loving husband for more than 45 years now. I am a mother to 3 beautiful children, until years ago when I lost my youngest son. Since then my life is forever altered but yet unbroken....

My Travel Journal

"There isn't much I haven't shared with you along the road and through it all there'd always be tomorrow's episode" - Elton John

I started traveling around the world since early 80s when I had the opportunity to combine business trips with vacations. Then later when my rezeki is in abundance, there were numerous other trips along the way for vacations, most of the time with hubby and the kids when the timing is right. I have also started to compile the journal and photo-pages covering almost more than 45 years of world wide travel. Some destinations I visited just once, others many times. Many of those places are the obvious famous places people would like to visit but some, the casual traveler doesn't even think to try. I have placed links to my travel at the side bar of my personal page, My Life Reflections, and will be updating them from time to time.

My wish is to continue my travel and complete circumnavigate the globe, insyaAllah…

Thailand Borders 10: Uttaradit

“If you are not willing to risk the usual, you will have to settle for the ordinary...” – Jim Rohn

(Thai-French hybrid Cattle farm)

Day 10: Tuesday, 19 Nov 2024
Route: Nong Khai - Uttaradit
Distance: 419 km (6:52)
Hotel: K2 Living Hotel, Uttaradit

(A clear sunny sky to start the day)
(Driving out of Nong Khai)

Breakfast in the room as usual. Checked out early and drove out of Nong Khai and took Route 211. Before taking the junction to Route 3041 towards Loei we had to retraced our routing back towards Nong Khai to look for a petrol station to refuel before we enter the smaller rural roads.

(The many attractions along the way)
(Retracing our route to look for petrol station)
(Refueling full tank for the long trip)
(The price of diesel in Thailand)

Total distance was around 450 km. The roads were mostly good, but winding through valleys and mountains with very few damaged roads or roadworks along the way. The journey time was about 8 hours including refueling and comfort stops.

(Long and lonely rural roads)
(Passing small villages and town)
(Campaign banners in one of the small town)
(Some small towns are pretty busy)
(A few comfort breaks to straighten our legs and backs)

We bypassed the town of Loei and drove on the winding roads that pass over some mountains with some lovely countryside views. The highway was in good condition and easily negotiable. There was not much traffic on the road.

(Passing through several National Parks)
(Less traffic on the mountain road)
(Beware of sharp curves)
(Arriving in Uttaradit looking for Anas restaurant)

We arrived in Uttaradit and headed direct to Anas Muslim Restaurant located in the middle of town. We visited this restaurant on our last visit.  Unfortunately there was no food left and the shop was about to close. Checked in K2 Living Hotel for RM76/night and had Kembara rice with rendang and sambal sotong for a late lunch/early dinner in the room.

(A comfortable and clean room)
