Route: Trang - Satun

Stopped for refuelling at a PTT along the way. Detoured to Trang Provincial Islamic Centre also known as Masjid Klang Pracha Changwat Trang located 25 km away from Trang town and on the route to Satun. The Trang Central Provincial Mosque is located next to the Trang Provincial Sports School. It looked closed and deserted. A 2024 Google search indicated that the construction project of the this Trang Central Provincial Mosque, has been more than 15 years ago and it still has not been opened.

Drove leisurely on highway 404 towards Satun. Arrived in Satun around 3.00 pm and checked-in Satun Boutique Resort at Rm85/night. The resort is located not far from Satun Central Mosque, also known as Masjid Mambang. Our room was quite spacious and clean but there were plenty black ants on the floor. The housekeeping had to spray the room to get rid of those ants.

Rested in the room till 5.45 pm then drove to the Satun Central Mosque or Masjid Mambang Satun. It is located on the corner of Buriwanich Road and Satun Thani Road in the centre of the city. The name “Mambang” was named after the city of Satun and the Khlong Ta Li Klai or Mambang River. The white Mosque is decorated with glazed marble tiles and clear glass. There is a staircase leading up to the dome-shaped tower for a view of Satun.

Iftar was a simple nasi goreng kerabu and fruits. There were many young children having their iftar at the mosque too. There were a row of stalls near the mosque selling varieties of local delicacies. We performed our maghrib, isya and tarawih prayers here.

After terawih, for supper we shared a plate of nasi ayam from a nearby muslim restaurant. Most of the restaurants were closed as it was already late at night.

(I was so overly hungry!) |
We had a good night sleep even though the wall was not so soundproof. We could hear the sound from the tv from the room next door.
