My Travel Journal

"There isn't much I haven't shared with you along the road and through it all there'd always be tomorrow's episode" - Elton John

I started traveling around the world since early 80s when I had the opportunity to combine business trips with vacations. Then later when my rezeki is in abundance, there were numerous other trips along the way for vacations, most of the time with hubby and the kids when the timing is right. I have also started to compile the journal and photo-pages covering almost more than 45 years of world wide travel. Some destinations I visited just once, others many times. Many of those places are the obvious famous places people would like to visit but some, the casual traveler doesn't even think to try. I have placed links to my travel at the side bar of my personal page, My Life Reflections, and will be updating them from time to time.

My wish is to continue my travel and complete circumnavigate the globe, insyaAllah…

(Masjid Madinatul Islam, Trang)

Day 06: Saturday, 15 March 2025
Route: Hatyai - Trang
Distance: 155 km
Hotel: Centre Point Hotel, Trang

Sahur was from the Kembara pack of rice and masak lemak daging salai.

After sahur, drove to Sulu Hutdi Mosque Hatyai. We arrived too early and the mosque was still closed. Waited for the adzan until 5.05 am then decided to look for another nearby mosque. Drove to Yabalus Salam Kuansanti Mosque, Hatyai for subuh prayers. There was no other muslimah attending the subuh prayers here.

(A full moon over Yabalus Salam Kuansanti Mosque)

Back in the hotel for a short nap. By 10.30 am checked-out and drove towards Trang. Arrived in Trang around 2.00 pm and checked-in Trang Center Point Hotel at Rm65/night.

Visited several masjid in Trang. First visit was the Malakiah Mosque in Trang. It is a small mosque with an active madrasah next to it. We could hear classes in progress.

Next visit was to the Nurul Insang Mosque in Trang. It is a very small mosque in a Muslim community kampung. The presence of tables and chairs indicated that there was iftar here. Though it looked like a potluck iftar for the local community here.

Next to the Napo Mosque in Trang, another small mosque catering for the surrounding local Muslim community.. There was some maintenance work being carried out. Most likely to prepare for the tarawih prayers tonight. We forwarded some contributions to all these mosques.

Stopped at a R&R and the Trang Railway Station before we drove back to our hotel.

Back to the hotel for a short rest. By 5.45 pm we drove to Masjid Madinatul Islam for iftar and tarawih prayers. It was a ten minute drive from our hotel. This beautiful high ceiling mosque is capable of accommodating at least five hundred worshippers. The courtyard of the mosque is for parking but can easily be covered by tents for festivities and cultural events.

The muslimah here were very friendly, full of hospitality and made you feel at home even though they speak little Malay or English. The food was aplenty and delicious. The sumptuous tasty iftar spread was more than sufficient food for all. The sugar cane juice was refreshingly good. The local councilman attended the iftar and personally greeted all those present. After iftar, we performed the maghrib, isya and tarawih prayers here.

After tarawih prayers we had roti pisang and teh tarik for moreh at a stall outside the mosque.
