2015 Q4 4NR: 11 Doi, Inthanon, Thailand - The Roof of Thailand...

“It’s a big world out there. It would be a shame not to experience it…”

(Taking a rest on the highest mountain in Thailand)

Day 11: 20 December 2015 (Sunday)
Route: Pai – Doi Inthanon
Distance: 302 km

We had porridge and char-kuey breakfast at the road-side stall.

We started riding out of Pai towards Mae Hong Son, 107 km away after refuelling and stopping at the Heart of Pai Resort for photo shots. A short distance from Pai our convoy was stopped at a road block where we were asked to show our driving licences. After the formalities and a few photo shots with our motorbikes, the policemen allowed us to continue with our journey.

We made a few more brief stops at view points on top of the mountains for photo shots. Our final stop was at the 1,864 Coffee shop. The rest arrived a bit later as there was a slight incident on the way where one of the motorbikes overshot on the slippery road but managed to recover fast.

When we arrived in Mae Hong Son, we had a victory picture taken at the famous archway before we entered town and visited the Chamber of Commerce where some of the gang claimed their certificates.

From Mae Hong Son we continued riding for 195 km on the winding road to Doi Inthanon passing through Namtok Mae Surin National Park and vast corn fields and stopping for refuelling and rest along the way. It was already dark when we reached Doi Inthanon National Park.

We checked-in Little Home Resort and had seafood dinner at the hotel restaurant before we retired for the night.
