2016 Q5 4NR Day 19 : Mae Sot - Kanchanaburi

“You don’t have to be rich to travel well…” - Eugene Fodor

(Thailand/Myanmar border town)

Day 19: Thursday, 15 Dec 2016
Route: Mae Sot - Kanchanaburi
Distance: 494 km
Hotel: Thai Guest House

By 9:00 am we rode to the Thailand/Myanmar border for photo shots at the Westernmost Point and did some shopping at the Rim Moei Burmese Market.

We rode on Route 12 through the 90 km winding Mae Sot - Tak highway which is undergoing massive upgrading works. We had an early lunch at the Muslim Restaurant in Tak. At a PTT near kampong Phet we stopped for prayers and coffee break. We rode within the speed limits as there were many police road blocks on the way.

We were soaked to the skin as it was raining all the way from Suphan Buri to Kanchanaburi. It was already dark when we arrived in Kanchanaburi and checked-in Thai guesthouse for Baht700/night. We walked to the nearby Walking Street and bought banana pancakes and coffee for dinner. Others rode to the night market in town to have nasi kuning and fried chicken for dinner.

Later we had an hour of relaxing foot massage and walked back to the guesthouse in the rain.
