A traveller's reflection: 13 Tasmania: Hobart

Today is our last day in Hobart.

This morning we had scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast. By 9.30 am we checked out of Waterfront Lodge Motel and headed to the town center.

We parked our car at Argyle Street Parking and walked towards Macquarie St to visit the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery located on Hobart's historic waterfront. The museum is the second oldest museum in Australia.

After the museum visit, we walked to the Taste of Malaysia restaurant to have nasi lemak and mihun goreng for our 44th Anniversary lunch.

As we still had ample time, we decided to visit Richmond, a charming town about 24 km from Hobart. Richmond is rich in history and architecture, with more than 50 historic buildings, mostly from the 1820s. It was a quick trip. First stop was the Richmond Bridge. It is the oldest bridge in Australia that is still in use. Built by convicts in the 1820s, it is made of sandstone and was completed in 1825.

Our next stop was the The Old Hobart Town Model Village. It is a perfect setting to learn about the life of early settlers in Hobart. Visitors can walk through a miniature replica of Hobart as it was in the 1820s.
