Day 08: Thursday, 22 December 2022
Route: Uttaradit to Phu Chi Fa
Distance: 330 km
Hotel: Wa Lee Resort, Phu Chi Fa

This morning we started early towards Phu Chi Fa via Phrae. If we reached early we planned to climb up to the view point and take some photo shots from the summit where Thailand meets Laos.

(A clear weather and good traffic)
(Arriving in Phrae)

Stopped for refuelling and provisions at a PTT at the outskirts of Phrae. Bought a pair of walking shoes at a second-hand shoe shop for B280.

(Funky t-shirts and second hand shoes)

On the way we detoured to a Cockpit Tyre Outlet and replaced all five of Bigfoot's tyres at a total cost of B22,950. Unable to locate two halal eateries in Phrae, we had burger lunch instead.

From Phrae we drove direct to Phu Chi Fa through several forest parks. Phu Chi Fa is one of the famous tourist highland destinations located in Chiang Rai province. We were here in 2014 with the bikers gang during our Q4 4-Nation Ride.

(Lookout for the signage of Phu Chi Fa)
(Winding road towards the highlands)

It was late in the afternoon when we checked in a room by a cliff at Wa Lee Resort at B850/night. The weather was clear and cool.  We watched the beautiful sunset and the spectacular view of the valley from our room. Later we had dinner indoor as it was too cold outside.

(A welcoming tribal song and dance)

We bundled up with layers of clothings to keep warm before we went to sleep. The temperature gets lower than 10°C at night.
