Indonesia 2014 Bali Adventure Ride: 04 Kuta - Tanah Lot - KL

"Better three hours too soon than a minute too late..." - William Shakespeare

Day 4- Sunday, 26 Jan 2014
(Kuta - Tanah Lot - KL)

(The Zuk Hotel, Kuta)

We woke up early and had nasi goreng breakfast in the hotel cafe. Today we planned to ride to Tanah Lot about 20 km from Denpasar. As we will be coming back later in the afternoon we checked-out of the hotel early. The two of us will be taking the 7:00 pm flight back to KL while the rest of the gang will be staying another night in Kuta.

Tanah Lot is a rock formation off the Indonesian island of Bali. It is home of a pilgrimage temple, the Pura Tanah Lot, and a popular tourist and cultural icon for photography and general exoticism. Located inTabanan, the temple sits on a large offshore rock which has been shaped continuously over the years by the ocean tide.

The Tanah Lot temple has been a part of Balinese mythology for centuries. The temple is one of seven sea temples around the Balinese coast. Each of the sea temples were established within eyesight of the next to form a chain along the south-western coast. However, the temple had significant Hindu influence.

At the base of the rocky island, poisonous sea snakes are believed to guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders. A giant snake purportedly protects the temple.

After some photo shots and a little souvenir shoppings, we rode back to Kuta and reached our hotel late afternoon. We walked to a nearby restaurant and had burger and kebab for lunch and later had an hour of foot reflexology to while away our time.

By 4:00 pm we took the hotel van to the airport. We were early so we have time to rest before we boarded the 7:00 pm flight to KL.

We landed safely at KLIA around 10:00 pm. Alhamdulillah....
